Now, all I need to do is find the courage to start marketing my business around The Hills and Beyond! As someone who's never had much confidence and who has very low self esteem, its pretty daunting for me to imagine walking around telling everyone about what I do, and asking them to part with their hard earned money for something that I produced, but here I am... and the feeling I get when someone sees a portrait of their beloved pet for the first time is worth my bashfulness... So forgive my red face and stammered words, I am The Animal Artist and I produce beautiful life like portraits of your for legged faithful friends that you will treasure forever.
Whilst waiting for the photographs of my latest commission to arrive in the mail, I am working on some Social Media stuff, i.e. playing around on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and editing the Website. I am also watching The Secret on YouTube, which got me thinking about how I ended up here, in this studio, in this area, this country, etc. I remember the exact moment I decided I wanted to move to Australia. It was a cold, wet, February day in 2007. I had just watched an episode of Wanted Down Under. As the end credits began to roll, I started to feel all tingly, as a tiny thought started forming in my mind. 'We could do that, we could move to Australia, we could change the path of our entire lives, and our child's life. So began the lengthy journey that led us here, One year of research, another year of waiting for the skills assessment, and another baby later we finally submitted our paperwork on the 16th of December 2008.
Also in 2008, I was introduced to The Secret by dear friends of ours, and our lives began to change their course. Although, I still have a lot to learn, I try to implement The Secrets principles everyday. It's not magic, its a way that you can train your mind to focus on what you really want. By doing this you begin to create the life you really deserve and want. It's easy to forget, to slip back into that negative thought pattern, thankfully, it's also easy to re-align your thoughts, and get your life moving along in your desired direction. Be grateful for what you have, imagine you already have the happiness and the life really you want, only dwell on the end result, really feel it with your whole being, stay happy, stay exhilarated. Trust that the opportunities will arise to bring you what you are focusing on, be open to these opportunities, and act upon them, in accordance with your innermost good feelings, your intuition your inspiration. Above all, enjoy yourself.
After 51/2 years of hoping and waiting, our case was finally being processed, we had to wait again for Julia to come into the world, but we knew we were only a few months away from reaching our goal. Six years to the day of sending in our application to emigrate to Australia, we walked through the gates of Melbourne Airport and into our new life Down Under.
Life is a dance, make it a happy one. There is more than enough good for everyone in this world, and that includes you, you deserve the best, recognize it, embrace it and share it with those around you. You never can tell, where it will take you, but if you can imagine it, you can have it, and if you truly desire it, you can achieve it, you already have once in your mind, you can do it in reality...
I wouldn't be worth my salt if I didn't comment on the weather, being British and all! I have been a bit worried since I moved to the hills because it has been particularly cold and dreary this year, not to mention the crazy winds and torrential rain! Everyone I met said, "Don't worry, by Spring it will be lovely, we get beautiful Spring weather up here!' Well, it is one week shy of December, AKA Summer, and I am still waiting for Spring! One day of Sun does not equate to beautiful Spring weather. The statistics say this has been the coldest Winter/Spring in Melbourne for 15 years! Right now I am hoping that figure remains static and that it'll be another 15 years before it gets this miserable again! No, I did not bring the British weather with me, I have been here for almost two years and last years Winter was perfectly nice, I can survive one more week, I hope, and have my fingers crossed that the earth hasn't wobbled, and moved Melbourne further away from the Sun or something equally catastrophic! #MelbourniansNeedMoreSunPlease
So, I brought the family along to this meeting the other evening and met the lovely Raquel Carter (no relation), and her delightful family. She ran the event to inform local artists and crafts people, about her new venture, the up and coming Hills Art Market to be held, on February 11th, at the grounds next to the Puffing Billy Railway, in the beautiful country town of Emerald, Victoria. I am quite excited, yet also daunted by the prospect, having never taken part in a market before, it is somewhat of an alien concept to me, although I can see the benefits for myself and the other artists. Especially for me, if dogs are allowed to wander around with their owners. A direct audience! I will need to work on collecting suitable paraphernalia, such as transportable signage, and a weather proof way to transport my artwork etc, but it should be of great benefit to get myself out their in the community. If you are interested in either attending or exhibiting and would like to learn more, please check out Raquel's Website and Facebook Page.
Hi, my name is Chrystal Carter, I am a mother to three lovely girls. I emigrated with my husband to Australia in December 2014, and have been living the dream, ever since! We are settled in the Dandenong Ranges and I have recently set up my brand new home art studio , in the heart of the hills, Tecoma. Here, I can follow my life long dream of being an artist drawing another of my greatest passions, animals, in particular, peoples beloved pets. I have always been fascinated by animals, nature and wildlife and where better to pursue my passions than here in Australia, and it certainly hasn't disappointed me! Follow me as a take on this new venture and brave new world, together with my wonderful family, and not forgetting my furry companions, Vin the Cat and Juno the Dog!
